Notes for Selecting Locks

Notes for Selecting Locks

There are many classifications, complex hardware locks materials and processing technologies in the market and different standards or specifications, the following gives a simple instructions about how to choose the hardware locks.

1. Locks materials
The lock material on the market can be basically divided into stainless steel, copper and zinc alloy. Stainless steel has high strength, strong corrosion resistance, non-discoloring, which is the best building materials; Copper is generally used, whose mechanical performance is superior, but is expensive; locks high quality zinc alloy has strong wear resistance, and its corrosion resistance is strong, which is easy to shape and usually applied to mid-range lock.

2. Locks surface treatment
Surface treatment is roughly divided into three kinds: electroplating, spray and shaded. By surface treatment, there will be a layer of dense protective film formed on the surface of the product, which has the effect of corrosion and rust to make the lock more beautiful and durable. Dense protective film is also a measure of quality of locks, because good quality locks always apply electroplating processing and plating, which is exquisite and smooth, even moderate, with bright color, no bubble or signs of rust and oxidation.

3. Locks executive standard
Foreign countries have very strict standards for hardware locks, so the quality of imported products is relatively high. We can feel the quality of the locks by hand. In general, locks which feels heavy have relatively high quality; lock body cannot be sharp, which may be easy to hurt, especially the lock handle, locks bolt and the corners of lock body; locks with good spring can be opened flexibly, which also has high sensitivity and long service life. Locks have a variety of styles, and it is important to note that the style of locks should be consistent with the door.
